Privacy note
This site collects two kinds of data: the email address you give us for the newsletter, and measurement data that shows how visitors use the site. We never sell either.
What happens to your address
When you subscribe, we send one email asking you to confirm. Your address joins the list only after you click that link. We use it to send the fortnightly note and nothing else. We never sell it, rent it or share it with advertisers.
The list is stored with Resend, the service that sends the emails. Resend stores data outside Australia, including in the United States.
Leaving
Every email carries an unsubscribe link. One click removes you. To have your address deleted from the list altogether, reply to any newsletter email and ask.
Visitor measurement
We use Google Tag Manager to run Google measurement tools, such as Google Analytics. They show us which pages people read and how they found the site.
These tools set cookies and record your IP address, the pages you visit, the site that sent you, and your device and browser. Google processes this data, including in the United States. We look at it only in total, to decide what to write next. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell it.
The tools load only after the page has loaded, and only when your browser runs JavaScript. To opt out, block cookies for this site in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out add-on.
Site logs
The site host keeps short-lived server logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the site secure.
